About the Leesburg 10K and 20K presented by Harris Teeter
2012 marks the 24th year for the Leesburg 10K. The 20K marks its 9th year. The event has been a fixture on the area summer racing scene for years. This year, the event is organized by PR Events, Inc. and continues to benefit the YMCA of Loudoun County. The YMCA was the event organizer in past years and has passed on that logistical responsibility, while remaining actively involved in and supportive of the event, which raises funds to support YMCA programs local to Loudoun County.

Potomac River Running
A family-run business, Potomac River Running, Inc, was founded in 2002 by Cathy and Ray Pugsley and Brendan and Margie Shapiro. Running specialty is a great fit for us – it allows us to share our passion for running (competition, coaching, teaching, etc.) with runners, walkers and triathletes of all levels, and it gives us a forum to introduce new people to the sport. It also enables us to support and continue to be involved with high school athletics, area events and races, charity groups, youth development programs, etc.
Over the past eight years, we have grown to become one of the area’s largest running and walking specialty retailers, with locations in Arlington, Ashburn, Burke, Leesburg, Reston, Tysons, Cleveland Park (in DC), and Rockville. We seek to share our passion with our customers by providing a broad selection of extensive products, but more importantly by focusing on service. Our highly trained staff is invested in each customer’s success and can provide advice and support above and beyond helping to select the best product. With our =PR= Training Programs arm we also provide running and fitness training programs for runners and walkers of all levels, including our popular Running 101 introductory program.
Potomac River Running has been recognized as a business leader at both the national and local levels. In 2006, Potomac River Running was one of four finalists for the “Running Specialty Store of the Year” award from the Independent Running Retailers Association and the Running Network. We were again recognized as one of the 50 Best Running Specialty Stores in America in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. We are the only business in the mid-Atlantic region to earn the award five consecutive years, since its inception. In addition, we were recognized in 2007 by the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce as a finalist for Small Business of the Year.

PR Events, Inc.
Potomac River Running Charitable & Educational Events, Inc. (PR Events, Inc. for short!) is a 501(c)(3) corporation organized by the principals of Potomac River Running. Its mission is to partner with and give back to other non-profit and charity organizations, raising funds through running-related events, especially road races. It also seeks to educate and inform about the values of running and exercise.
